My first trip to Paris was when I was 15. I felt so lucky to be there, although as it was a History / English Literature tour I found myself drifting off most of the time (my attention span = terrible). The little moments I cherished were the random, unplanned ones... running like crazy people down all the steps of the Eiffel Tower to get to the bottom, spending 10 minutes trying to ask a security guard for directions in what we thought was french, buying as many little eiffel tower key-rings that we could carry, being scolded for asking for a baguette the wrong way, lounging in the air-conditioned hotel room eating chocolates and hearing The Pussycat Dolls (Don't Cha) for the first time on a french music video show. I think being so young I didn't really take in all the other things, although I'm definitely still happy I went.
On the same tour I visited London (and fell asleep on the floor at The Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon), then a few years later at 17 (the height of my Hello Kitty phase) I visited Hong Kong to dance in shopping centers and at Disneyland. Since then I haven't wanted to travel, because arriving back in Sydney both times was just bliss. It made me wonder why I'd want to be anywhere else when I can live in this amazing, laid-back, comfortable city right here.
Just recently the travel bug has hit me, and I want to get away. Even just short trips.. I want to escape to those places I've been and somewhere new. My sister and I have decided to start with a 2-week trip to London - Paris - Rome next year and I'm so excited. Mainly for the Italian food... pizza, pasta, coffee. Don't even get me started on how much I love Italian food.
So excited.
So excited.
Sounds like you've had lots of amazing travel! :)
