Melbourne | Crown Metropol | 2 Nights

Two nights definitely wasn't long enough to experience everything Melbourne has to offer, but just long enough to realise it's a brilliant place to be. Clean, stylish, arty, classy... crisp air and interesting people. Starting to think I may even like it better than Sydney.

On a Friday night with work finished for the week I headed off to the airport, boyfriend and Forever New Weekender Bag in tow. Two hours and one large bag of Victoria's Secret treasure later we're at the entrance to Melbourne's Crown Metropol with a friendly greeting and our bags immediately taken up to our room. Despite it being close to midnight I couldn't go to sleep without having ice cream delivered to my door :)

So Saturday - firstly a big breakfast and coffee at Olivier's Cafe in Spencer St. We then caught a tram (more for the experience than the necessity) to the massive shops in Bourke Street - Zara, Sportsgirl, Forever New, Portmans, Bardot and David Jones to name a few. Next was lunch at Transport Hotel at Federation Square then a walk along the Yarra back to the Crown to chill out for a bit before dinner. After a yummy lasagne and wine at Cafe Baci's we stood on one of the bridges that cross the Yarra to watch the flames that happen along the water every hour.

Sunday was a big sleep in, then coffee and breakfast at the hotel's buffet in the Sky Lounge. Scrambled eggs on turkish toast with bacon, mushrooms, spinach and tomatoes, a plate of fruit and a glass of pink grapefruit juice. With a late checkout of 2pm we left our bags in the lobby and went for a walk to check out the cafes and sights in South Wharf, including the DFO. With a bit more time I would have gone crazy in the Seed Heritage there... $20 tops anyone?
