Covergirl Ready Set Gorgeous Foundation Review

Covergirl Ready Set Gorgeous Foundation Negative Review

I popped into the shops the other day to grab a few things and decided to snap up a cheap foundation to make do in case my favourite Maybelline Fit Me happened to run out. The Covergirl Ready Set Gorgeous Foundation was on sale for about $8 so I decided to go with it, as I loved the concealer from the same range.

I've just put it on and unfortunately on my skin, it's a miss.

I used to wear a Covergirl foundation to every dance competition back in the day, so the smell of it takes me right back. As I immediately relate it to dancing, I'm not sure how others would feel about the scent. I can't quite describe it but it's a very distinct smell. I bought the lightest shade possible which is 105 Classic Ivory. It ended up being 1-2 shades too dark/orange for me.

It's a thick, somewhat runny consistency. I applied it with a beauty sponge (which I find gives the best result) and it just wouldn't blend into my skin as other foundations do. Once applied I could see it sitting on top of my skin, exaggerating the tiny hairs on the sides of my face. It didn't look attractive on my chin at all. I set it with a translucent powder, and now sitting here typing this with it on, I feel like my face is about to fall off. It feels so dry.

I tend to like more of a full coverage foundation as I have a lot of sun spots on my face, and I would say this one is definitely Medium as it doesn't cover them up. It conceals redness on the face and provides a matte finish, probably a better option for oily skin (I have normal/combination skin)

I really wanted to like this foundation. As I said previously, I adore the concealer. It's super pale, really hydrating and blends so nicely. It's weird as I usually prefer the foundation over it's matching concealer, but in this case, it's the complete opposite.

I'm actually so uncomfortable in this product that I'm not even going to try wearing it for the rest of the day. I guess my sister gets a new foundation :) I'm interested to see how it works on her, she's way more picky with foundations than I am so we shall see. If anyone has this foundation and likes it, please let me know in the comments!

  1. There is nothing worse than a foundation that doesn't mesh with the skin! It sucks that this didn't work out for you. x
